Who We Are

SOLUTION FOCUSED RECOVERY THINKING
The only requirement for CA membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. There are no dues or fees for membership, but we are self-supporting through our own contributions. We are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution. We do not wish to engage in any controversy, and we neither endorse nor oppose any causes. OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE is to stay free of cocaine and all other mind-altering substances, and to help others achieve the same freedom.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS
-
1GOING TO MEETINGSMeeting makers make it. Go to a CA meeting as often as you can, but if you need a meeting and there’s no CA meeting going on, go to any meeting you can.
-
2GET A SPONSORA sponsor is a member who has experience staying clean and who can help you do the same. If you are unsure, then ask someone to be your temporary sponsor, but get one.
-
3FIND A HOMEGROUPGo to at least one regular meeting on a consistent basis. Come early, stay late, and go to the group’s business meetings. It is important that we have at least one place in recovery where people can really get to know us-that’s the only way any of us can get the help they need.
-
4ONE DAY AT A TIMEWe only have to stay clean one day at a time, if need be-one hour or one minute at a time. The same thing holds true with any other living problems we may have. Don’t worry about staying clean tomorrow, next month, or next year. For now – JUST STAY IN TODAY.

TIPS FOR STAYING CLEAN
-
1Total abstinence from cocaine and ALL other mind-altering substances.
-
2Avoid triggers like: PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS that were part of our using days.
-
3Use the phone. Get phone numbers and USE THEM.
-
4Avoid getting the H.A.L.T.’s. Don’t get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired: Eat / count to ten / go to a meeting / call someone / take a nap.
-
5Read the books and literature.
-
6Practice the 12 steps with your sponsor.
-
7Help someone else get a day clean-it takes us out of our own head.
-
8Get in service, put away chairs, make coffee, and just get involved-you’ll feel like you’re a part of things if you do.
-
9Stick with the winners, people that stay clean and seem happy and serene.
-
10SURRENDER whenever you get thoughts of using-think it all the way through-remember the pain at the end.
-
11Ask questions and ask for help when you need it-don’t be afraid that people will judge you-you’re here to save your life!
-
12Chase your recovery the way you chased that drink and drug-make staying clean your number one priority!!!
